Haven’t written a blog in quite a while…. soooo busy…
I had time to read a book though. It was a book I had heard a lot about on this little island I live on. The reason why is that the plot of this book is set in the Isle of Man.
A lot of references to the TT (Tourist Trophy – the world famous annual motorbike races) and places everyone who lives here knows.
As this is a thriller with quite a lot of turns I can’t really say anything about the plot.
And to be honest, the writing of author Chris Ewan thrilled me as little as the story itself. The story is a nice idea but the way the author has wrapped it all up into this novel is not optimal. Sometimes you know things the protagonist or other characters don’t and it ends up in an unnecessary tangle around some events.
Also cliffhanger attempts to make you want to turn to the next chapter and keep on reading are often a bit clumsy and missing editorial elegance.
For everyone living in the Isle of Man and those that are fans of this place this book is definitely an exciting read. I caught myself a couple of times getting very excited when places were described that I drive by every other day and I am very familiar with.
Fact is, this book inspired me to write some stories set on the island myself. It just goes on my list of books I want to write…and somehow never do…
